When I heard about the new dry shampoo a few years ago, I was excited to try it. Shampoo? That’s DRY? Like, you don’t need water?! Clean hair at any time of day?! Wowee crap on a cracker!
Finally, upon my return to America, I purchased Bastiste’s Original Dry Shampoo on sale for $5.99 at TJ Maxx, and I’ve used it twice now.
It’s quite simple—you hold it 30 inches away from your roots, spray, and fluff.
In my experience, I’ve used it only when I didn’t wash my hair the previous day, and I find that it does remove most of the grease. It smells quite fresh as well. However, the hair still feels heavy. Maybe it’s top-down processing, since I know I’ve just sprayed some foreign agent in my hair.
Bottom line: It’s a great quick-fix for second-day hair when you just haven’t had time to wash, but it’s definitely no substitute for real showers. It just doesn’t give you that amazing clean feeling you get after showering.
I predict I’ll be abusing this magical stuff in college when I’m too busy cramming for class to shower.
